Designed by Fotis Evans for a museum bookshop at Somerset House in London, the Somerset House Book Stall System is a multifunctional piece of furniture that combines two bookshelves and a table in one unit. The Book Stall System was designed as a solution to address the issue of bad sales of books in stores because of the online shopping. The two bookshelves can be easily adjusted and transformed into different storage and display solutions. The lightweight, modular bookshelves have been made from ash.
The table is made from plywood and uses CNC technology to offer stability in both flat and angular positions. The users can combine both the table and the crates in many ways to make for a range of space-saving display and storage solutions. Although, the Somerset House Book Stall System has been designed for use in bookshops, it looks highly functional in smaller, modern households.
