Dutch designer Reinier de Jong has now taken wraps off his latest creation, the Steel chair that features wood handles sourced from household and gardening tools like brooms and shovels. The color and texture is based on the task for which the tool has been used and the type of wood. The sitting surface has been made comfortable by making cutouts on the surface of the handles. If you want to make your own Steel chair, you can give your old wooden handles of brooms, rakes, spades or flagpoles to the designer and get a chair of your liking.
The Steel chairs can also be made with new wooden handles painted in white. The minimalist chair chair reflects the everyday nature of its original components. Pricing is available on request.
