Since 2002, Milan-based A4A Design has been designing and producing objects and furniture in honeycomb cardboard. The company is known for its cardboard installations for exhibitions, commercial and recreational areas. The latest creation from the house is “The new Movimente Civic Library” that features eco friendly furniture units made from recycled and recyclable honeycomb cardboard. Movimente is in a transit hub for trains, buses and car parks, and can accommodate up to 30,000 books.
Designed by Nicoletta Savioni and Giovanni Rivolta, in collaboration with Area Progetti, the furniture collection includes 100 bookstack bookshelves, large dynamo tables, and multi-chair seating in recycled cardboard. The new kind of library opened in December last year.
