Playful lighting fixtures are simply fun, and the Expanding Lamp by Studio Erik Stehmann is no exception. Inspired by the Hoberman sphere (a geodesic dome like structure that can fold down to a fraction of its normal size), the Expanding lamp features hundreds of connections and hinges of oak wood, which allows users to expand it into a floor lamp. It can be collapsed when needed to transform it into a desk lamp. All this happens with the simple push and pull of lamp’s components.
It would have been great if there was a GIF to show how this intricate lamp transforms its shape.
