Many designers and lighting firms have been offering the reproductions of early Edison bulbs these days, but the only negative aspect with most of them is that they are too bright for the eyes. The Alva Lightbulb lamp by Luke Anderson of Lancaster, PA, has been designed in the shape of one big Edison light bulb, which is bright enough for reading, but not so bright to look at. To create the Alva, the designer has used a simple base that holds a bulb vertically. Luke Anderson worked with Clair and Scott to create the first Alva lamp, which he gifted to his father on Christmas.
The Alva Lightbulb lamp, being promoted by Luke on Kickstarter now, is completely handmade and assembled. While a local glass artist has created the glass bulb, the ceramic base is courtesy of an expert ceramicist. The lamp features an LED light bulb that glows brightly while being cool. The base of the lamp is available in three colors – Brown, White and Black. The project has already crossed its pledged goal of $4,000 and will be funded on August 11, 2012.
