Brian Frandsen’s Il Polpo lamp promotes wellbeing

Carefully timed daylight exposure helps keep a tab on melatonin, the natural sleep-inducing agent that’s produced by human body naturally. While the melatonin levels are quite high during dark hours, they are usually low during daylight hours. Designed by Brian Frandsen for a project at Designschool Kolding that was sponsored by ScandiSales Grafik, the Il Polpo lamp is an upshot of research in therapeutical lighting. The lamp can be can be moved around in relation to the function and time of day.

In all the possible positions, the Il Polpo lamp aims to optimize the stimulation of the body, whether awake, fresh or exhausted. It has been created using the cradle-to-cradle certificated material ‘stone paper’.
