Budget design ideas for a kid’s bedroom

  • Painted Ceiling – An interesting ceiling will immediately gather the child’s attention. Paint it in an interesting pattern or design or even his favorite superhero. If you want to keep it simple, just paint colorful stripes. They are easy and economical.
  • Painted boxes for storage – Mount up simple boxes, crates, etc and use them as storage. They are easy on the eyes , function well  and take up less space than stand alone shelves. Paint them yourself or let the kids chip in. Colorful boxes in varied colors will be beautiful against a white backdrop and if the room already has a lot of color, add the boxes in muted tones.
  • Lights – There is no reason the room should not have decorative lights just because you are on a budget. There are so many economical options available in the shops and some of them you will be surprised to find you can make them at home. Paper lanterns and pendant lights look really beautiful and are very very creative. The upside to them is you can get them in any color you want or create them in any color you want. After all, it is a child’s bedroom and children love colors and can never choose one favorite.
  • Curtains – You can get creative with curtains when on a budget. Get any sheer material you can find. Sarees and stoles come in so many designs, patterns and colors. Pick any and hang them up after a few stitches by the rod and use them as curtains. They will look lovely and add some funk to the room.
  • A creative corner – Do not overwhelm your child with too much of artsy work in the bedroom when you are not on a budget. Let the child have his own creative space and let it be the decor that you put up on the walls and doors. Drawings, finger-paintings , cut out paper-crafts are more priceless than any item of art you purchase at a shop so treat them as such. You can tape them on the walls or hang up these art pieces on the walls. Frame them up nicely to preserve them and add the finishing touch. Doing this will be inexpensive.
