Chess Table combines the classic game with a conventional piece of furniture

Chess Table

Combining the classic game of chess with a conventional table, Frederick Powell has come up with a unique piece of furniture called the “Chess Table” that lets you play chess while enjoying a cup of tea/coffee. Featuring the playing board finished in 1/2 Dupont Corian, the playing board is lined with mitered black walnut and accented with an American Holly cross wedge on the mitered corners. Synchronizing the table apron with the black walnut board, the piece drawer is matched with apron and toned with a 5/16 American Holly beaded edge.

Standing firmly on solid hard white maple legs with a Gaboon Ebony quarter round accent just below the apron, the Chess Table also integrates hard white maple piece drawer, with “Blumotion” Tandem drawer slides, which is cushioned with a “Coffee Swirl” micro-fiber lining. Measuring 29.25 inches in height and 23.75 inches in depth and width, the chess table comes with plywood side extension tables on both sides that are veneered with bird-eye maple and edged with black walnut.

Bordered with solid black walnut and Gaboon Ebony frame, the chess table also integrates a bottom shelf with a floating plywood panel, which is banded with solid American Holly and veneered with maple burl to compliment the overall formation.

Comprising four components, i.e. chess board, apron and drawer section, table legs and bottom shelf, which when required can be collapsed, the chess table comes with four coats of hand rubbed water-white conversion varnish and buffed out with Williamsburg wax for a glossy look to compliment modern spaces.
