Ikea adds augmented reality to its product catalog

Ikea’s product catalog is one of the most awaited items for design lovers, design students and homeowners and they print around 211 million copies every year. This time, Ikea is going to make it big with its catalog by bringing in augmented reality, which will enrich users with an innovative interactive experience. To enjoy the same, you will have to download the Ikea Catalogue app that will show you a range of interactive features using augmented reality while browsing the pages featuring digital content. When you roll over your smartphone on the printed catalog, you can see the product videos, browse the photo galleries and get the useful decorating tips and ideas.

The X-ray feature gives you an interactive peek inside the furniture. Brought to life by the creative agency McCann, the exciting augmented reality app was in works since 2011. The 2013 IKEA Catalog online is coming soon and will be available for the iPad, iPhone or Android. Hit the jump to see Ikea AR app in action.
