Making your home smell of the fresh summer scent

No particular smell is associated with the summer season. There is only oppressive burden of heat that putrefies the air outside. The only solace is the cool and comfy shelter of the house and there can be no other way than to enjoy it with soft lights of the candle burning and the light aroma of cinnamons and roses wafting through the room. Here are tips by Dr Prem Jagyasi and his team members to purify the air within and invigorate the environment of the house:

Avoid harsh chemical based scents

fragrances

While buying scents, it is important to look for only natural ones. The fragrances should be tender and light. Prefer the cool fragrances like cinnamon, roses, tea, lavender and citrus to give a refreshing feel to the room.

Use oil diffusers

oil diffusers

There are three kinds of oil diffusers– ring type, pot type and candle diffusers – available in the market. All you need to do is put aromatic oils (if necessary) along with the oil inside them to warm them up and let the oil evaporate and aroma wafts all through the room. Else, you can use a nebulizer to spread the fragrance across your home.

Dab oil on table lamp

This method of freshening up the room is somewhat similar to the previous one. What you need to do, in this case, is dab a piece of cotton in the oils and then rub the underside of the lamp with it. The heat of the bulb will diffuse vapors of the oil all across the room.

Boil citrus fruits

Simply boiling citrus fruits or rose petals with tea will also bring the desired effect of aromatizing your home with fresh fragrances. This is an inexpensive and a fully healthy way of bringing springy delight to your home. You can also fill in the peals of oranges and lemons with waxes with a wick in them and light them up.

Herbal sachets and pouches

Herbal sachets

You can enjoy the light fragrance of herbs like Lavender by placing them in tiny pouches made of loose fabric and placing them on tables and shelves along the sofas and couches or suspending them from the ceiling. You can even place them inside your cupboards and shoe cabinets. This will keep the area fresh and aromatized. In addition, you can put fresh tealeaves, rose petals and aromatic spices in them.

Scented wooden blocks

Scented wooden blocks

Dip these cube shaped wood blocks into the oil, place them inside a bowl and keep at an appropriate place in the room. Prefer porous pieces of wood for the purpose, so that they absorb more oil to scent the room for a longer period. This is a unique way of freshening up your interiors.

Cinnamon candles

Cinnamon candles

All you need are candles and a few pieces of cinnamon to tie them around the candles with thin steel wire and then light them up. This is a novel way of lighting up the interiors and aromatizing the environment. You can in particular aromatize your bedroom in this manner before you go to sleep.

Potpourris

Your own garden and kitchen cabinets are storehouse of natural fragrances. Just bring in some flowers that have lasting smell even with dried petals. Try combinations of different flowers like ivy and roses and spices. Place them in a bowl and let their shallow fragrance waft through the room.

You need not invest in expensive and harmful perfumes to refresh the interiors. With simple ideas, you can invigorate your home with freshness even during the sweaty and smelly summer days and keep it in state of health.
