Bauknecht presents Sphere, the round washing machine of the future

It’s never an easy task to reform a household appliance like a washing machine that has remained basically the same for a long time. Earlier, we have introduced you to some of the most innovative washing machines that need no electricity to do your laundry. This time, we have a round washing machine. Whirlpool’s European brand Bauknecht has teamed up with German designer Arman Emami to create the prototype of a futuristic round washing machine. Inspired by nature, the Sphere washing machine enjoys organic curves and offers a perfect blend of form and functionality.

The main idea was to say goodbye to the logical box-like shape of a washing machine and bring in emotional value to the appliance to offer a glimpse of how the home appliances might look in future. The drum is a round, spinning cylinder and the rotation speaks of the flowing, round silhouette. Tinted glass front with push-to-open mechanism and easy controls adds fun to the boring task of doing your laundry. The Sphere washing machine is only a prototype at the moment and we would like to see it for real soon…very soon.
