Diapo lamp lets users define the light ambiance to their liking

Designed by French multimedia artist Cécile Babiole and produced by iMAL, the Diapo lamp boasts a stunning design that refers to a slide with its form and proportions. The lamp features a squared frame with a rectangular window in the center. Diapo lamp has been creating by stacking together various wood (MDF) and PMA (Plexiglas) plates. A grid of LED lights has been placed in the middle for illumination. Since each Diaplo lamp comes with Plexiglas slides (gobos) in different colors and patterns laser cut on the surface, users can choose them accordingly to set the preferred light ambiance.

Cécile Babiole draws inspiration from the history of photography and its projection systems to create elegant and inviting luminous objects. The modular, configurable Diapo lamp was created during Cécile’s second residency at fablab.iMAL, a digital manufacturing workplace where people from different fields can participate and create all kinds of objects.
