A couple of months back, Dyson, the renowned UK maker of vacuum cleaners and hand dryers, patented a dual-purpose water tap that dries your hands too. Now, the company has rolled out the new Airblade Tap hand dryer, which washes as well as dries your hands. The Airblade Tap hand dryer eliminates the need to move to a separate hand drying area, as it dries your hand at the sink in just 14 seconds. The Airblade Tap combines hot and cold water outlets with a speedy hand dryer.
It boasts Dyson digital motor V4, one of the world’s smallest, fully integrated 1400W motors that could draw in 28 liters of air per second through a HEPA filter. This technology helps dry your hands in only 14 seconds. Another highlight of this energy-efficient motor is that the high compression fan spins 92,000 times in about a minute. It cost the company £26.9 million to develop this motor.
Unlike other hand dryers, the Dyson Airblade Tap is very hygienic, as the HEPA filter removes 99.97 percent of bacteria at 0.3 microns from the air used to dry hands. It detects the presence of hands with the infrared sensors, which emit light to pinpoint hand positions. So, there are no taps to turn or buttons you need to touch. Another advantage is the lower operating costs, as the Dyson Airblade Tap hand dryer costs a mere $48 a year to run.
Available beginning February 5, 2013, the Dyson Airblade Tap hand dryer will set you back a cool £1,000, which might restrict many from buying one.
