The brainchild of Scott van Haastrecht, the Image Toaster is something that will surprise you every morning at your breakfast table. The Image Toaster searches images on Google related to the particular day, picks up a random image and then burns the image onto your toast at 6×6 pixels. The Image Toaster is currently a still a prototype that Scott has created for the Creative Technology course in University. Although that resolution might not impress you much, it does open the door for further possibilities.
For now, Scott uses an Arduino to control the Servo’s en Steppermotors. The Arduino gets the signal from the computer/ Max/MSP, which searches the current date and downloads Google images. He has plans to run the Image Toaster using only Wi-Fi and a power cord sometime soon.
