Minimalist Virtaus faucet boasts proximity sensor technology and touch interface

Designed by Will Wetherilt, in collaboration with Delta Faucet Company and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Virtaus is a minimalist, modern lavatory faucet featuring proximity sensor technology and an embedded touch interface. Made from porcelain and solid walnut, the Virtaus faucet has a touch sensitive user interface, which displays graphically the current water temperature when user approaches it and lets them select their preferred temperature with the touch of their finger.

The user can see the display change in real time with the change in temperature. During the design process, a number of forms and concepts were explored and the goal was to achieve the slimmest and a very simple form factor possible.
