New York based startup Quirky is highly optimistic with the new crate system designed by Jenny Drinkard, a 25-year-old design student from Atlanta. The innovative crate presents a new take on the traditional milk crate and offers limitless storage solutions. Quirky is a social design site that lets people submit their creative ideas. After that, the creative team of designers at Quirky works with the online contributors to put these ideas into production. The storage crates will go on sale at Quirky’s online store and Fab starting 1st of July.
Billed as “The reinvention of the Milk Crate,” the new modular system comes with ten accessories, including metal casters and wooden legs, which help you customize your storage needs. There are cord clips for cables and hooks to hang other stuff. You also have separate drawers, shelves and the corkboard. Add a cushion and you can transform the crate into a comfortable seat.
The Crate is the first U.S. manufactured item from Quirky, and they are working to develop two of their community members’ most liked products every week. The Crates modular storage system will sell for $20, with the accessories costing between $5 and $30.
