If you are looking for furniture pieces that truly define you, you need to head to Milan where Dutch design studio Tjep. will be presenting Future Nostalgia, an exhibition of DNA furniture and jewelry, during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile this month in the modern Ventura Lambrate area. These one-of-a-kind furniture units are shaped by DNA data to meet your exact needs.
Frank Tjepkema of Tjep. is crafting these piece in collaboration with Eric Wolthuis of DutchDNA. They take DNAs, map them with 3D imaging and create inimitable pieces that are real “you”. The highlight of the DNA Furniture collection id the Darwin table that has been made with the DNA of Giulia Wolthuis, a contemporary dancer and daughter of Eric Wolthuis. Interestingly, the Darwin table, with its abstract shape, imitates Giulia’s flexibility and motion as a dancer.
For the DNA jewelry collection, Tjepkema has combined the DNA mapping visuals with well-known symbols like a heart and flowers. The whole process of creating these works of art is done at BaseClear Laboratories in the Netherlands. After the exhibition at Milan furniture fair, DutchDNA and Tjep. will start accepting custom orders for DNA mapped furniture pieces.
