Souhougama collaborates with Masahiro Minami for LED-lit ceramic washbowls

Masahiro Minami Design, the studio that has been experimenting with the possibilities of translucent ceramics for years, has lately collaborated with product designer Michio Akita and Shigaraki-based Souhougama for an exquisite collection of ceramic washbowls with built-in LED lighting. The translucent ceramic washbowl is an unprecedented product that uses ultra bright, long lasting waterproof LEDs. The new sanitary earthenware offers a blend of advanced Japanese science and technology, traditional craft skills and quality design.

The LED ceramic washbowl is available in different models, with each designed to make you feel as if it is a ceramic jewel. It would be pure pleasure to see soft light emanate through these translucent ceramic washbowls at night. The new collection will be unveiled at the Lighting Fair in Tokyo in March 2013).

While the Renca and Suirin ceramic washbowl are priced at 210,000 yen ($2,250) each, the Keishou washbowl will set you back 126,000 yen ($1,350).
