Treasure Collection: Eco friendly Tran sofa and low table

The “Treasure Collection” by London based Studio180° run by Denise Portmann and Ladina Hardmeier focuses on the use of natural and organic materials sourced from different parts of Britain. The design project aims to use various kinds of traditional arts and crafts to create modern, stunning objects. Part of the collection, the new “Tran” sofa and stool-cum-low table explores the traditional craft of hand weaving by combining different natural and organic materials to create a rough textured and a sturdy surface for the seat and the back.

The materials used to make Tran include British vegetable tanned saddle leather, natural flax twine, braided organic jute cord, twisted eco paper cord and Shetland wool yarn. The frame of the sofa has been made from FSC certified British oak and the parts have been joined using eco glue. The idea behind the rusty “Tran” was to create an appealing, environmentally friendly sofa by using British made organic materials. The Tran sofa and low table comes complete with complementing accessories.
