Alexander Lervik’s Poetry of Light chocolate lamp is sweet, literally!

Poetry of Light chocolate lamp

When we are saying this lamp is sweet, we mean it literally. Designed by Alexander Lervik, the Poetry of Light chocolate lamp hides an incandescent light inside a mouth-watering block of real chocolate. When you turn on the Poetry of Light chocolate lamp, it’s all dark and imitates light you see across the horizon at sunrise. A t the same time, the heat from the lamp starts melting the chocolate and the lights starts to come out from the holes. After around 15 minutes, the entire chocolate chunk melts away and you get the full light, not to forget the dessert.

With his chocolate lamp, Alexander Lervik wanted to create a beautiful fixture with contrast to light – the darkness. The lamp has been designed after thorough consideration of the way the chocolate melts. The lamp was originally thought of in the shape of a cube, but after determining the chocolate melting behavior, he chose the cut-off pyramid shape.

The “Lumière au Chocolate” project by Alexander Lervik is currently being exhibited at Galleri Kleerup in Stockholm, Sweden. SAAS Instruments produce the Poetry of Light chocolate lamp. The lamp is sweet, so sweet, but I wonder if they offer the replacement shades.
